This week's waiver wire: week 1 (Sep 8 – Sep 14)
The board above rebuilt on Tuesday for week 1. Rankings move on three things and nothing else: a confirmed change in role, the defense the player faces this week, and how much he is worth over the freely available replacement at his position in your scoring format. Last week's box score is deliberately ignored.
What changed since last week
Every Tuesday the board reprices around inactives and depth-chart news, drops players whose teams are on bye out of the streamer lists, and refreshes the FAAB percentages so they reflect the weeks left in the season — a 25% bid in week 3 and a 25% bid in week 12 are very different decisions. Claims lock Tuesday night in most US leagues and process around 3 a.m. Eastern Wednesday, so the board is deliberately current before then.
Free waivers: what you can add without a claim
Anyone who clears waivers unclaimed becomes a free agent, and free agents are free to add instantly — no waiver priority spent, no FAAB spent. In practice that means the cheapest moves of your week are the Wednesday-afternoon adds nobody bid on and the Sunday-morning pickups after inactives post. If a player on the board is already a free agent in your league, take him now rather than queuing a claim that costs budget.

How the waiver wire works
In almost every US league, claims you submit during the week are processed together early Wednesday morning Eastern time. Leagues on rolling waiver priority award the player to whoever sits highest in the order; FAAB leagues award him to the highest blind bid, with the tiebreaker usually falling to waiver priority. Anything that clears waivers unclaimed becomes a free agent you can add instantly.
The mistake that costs the most is bidding on last week's box score. A player who scored twice on four touches has not changed roles. The board above ignores last week and scores what is in front of the player instead — the defense he faces, the offense he plays in, and how much value he holds over the freely available replacement at his position.
Treat the drop list as half the decision. Every add costs a roster spot, and holding a player through a bye plus a nightmare matchup usually costs more than the upside he carries. Drop the smallest edge, never the biggest name.

- What is the waiver wire in fantasy football?
- The waiver wire is the pool of players nobody in your league rosters. Each week, usually Tuesday night into Wednesday morning US time, leagues process claims on that pool in either waiver-priority order or by FAAB blind bid, and whoever wins the claim adds the player to their roster.
- Who should I pick up on the waiver wire this week?
- Add the player who raises your starting lineup the most, not the player who scored the most last week. The board on this page ranks widely available players by projected points over replacement in your scoring format, how soft the defense they face is, and how much offense they are attached to — so a backup who just inherited a backfield outranks a one-week box score.
- When do waivers process?
- Most US leagues clear waivers Wednesday at roughly 3 a.m. Eastern, with claims locked Tuesday night. Sleeper, ESPN, Yahoo and CBS all default to that window, though commissioners can move it. Everything on this page rolls over to the new week on Tuesday so the board is current before claims lock.
- How much FAAB should I spend on a pickup?
- The percentage next to each player is a share of a full-season budget. Spend a quarter of your budget on a genuine role change, 10 to 20 percent on a strong add, and single digits on a one-week streamer. The FAAB calculator works out the exact bid from your remaining budget and the weeks left.
