Value vs ADP compares where a player is being drafted with where his projected points over replacement say he belongs. Positive numbers are breakout candidates going later than they should; negative numbers are the busts you are paying full price for. Cross-check any name against the platform ADP table before you act on it.
How to use the handcuff board
Leverage is the number that matters. It combines how valuable the starter is with how cleanly his touches would transfer. A must-draft handcuff sits behind a genuine league winner in a backfield with no committee behind him, which means the backup is close to an RB1 the week the starter goes down. A watch-list handcuff sits behind a back whose work would be split three ways — those names belong on your waiver list, not your bench.
Handcuff your own starters first, in the last two or three rounds. Only reach for someone else's handcuff when that backfield has the highest leverage on the board and you have bench space to spare; otherwise use the pick on a breakout candidate.
The breakout and bust tabs are the same engine seen from the other side. Breakouts are players whose projected points over replacement rank far above where the room is drafting them; busts are the opposite, and are usually name-brand players priced on last season rather than this one.

- What is a handcuff in fantasy football?
- A handcuff is the backup running back who would inherit the touches if the starter you drafted misses time. Drafting him protects the pick you spent on the starter.
- Which handcuffs are actually worth a roster spot?
- The ones with high leverage: a starter with a lot of value over replacement plus a backfield that funnels most of that work to one backup. Committee backfields transfer far less value, so their handcuffs are watch-list names rather than picks.
- How are breakouts and busts decided?
- Each player's projected points over replacement in your format is ranked against his cross-platform average draft position. Players ranked well ahead of their ADP are breakout candidates; players drafted well ahead of their value are busts.
