The Draft Panic Score, explained
The Draft Panic Score grades how far a draft room drifts from ADP. Here is how it is calculated, what each band means, and how to exploit a panicking league.
How it is calculated
Every pick is compared to that player's average draft position. Picks made six or more selections early are counted as reaches, and the total size of those reaches is averaged across the number of picks on the board, then scaled to a 0-100 range. One aggressive pick in a long draft barely moves the score; a room where half the picks jump the queue climbs fast.
The score is deliberately blind to whether a reach was smart. It measures deviation, not correctness — which is exactly what you need in order to predict the next twenty picks.
Reading the bands
0-19
Chalk room
Picks track ADP closely. Value comes from tier timing, not from other managers' mistakes.
20-44
Mostly disciplined
A few reaches. Watch for one manager who drafts by name recognition and plan around their turn.
45-69
Jumpy room
Runs start early and cascade. Position scarcity is being priced emotionally — fade the hot position.
70-100
Chaos draft
Sustained reaching. Elite talent falls. Take best available and let the room hand you a roster.
How to exploit a panicking room
Panic is contagious and directional. When a room reaches, it reaches at one position at a time, which means the positions nobody is panicking about are being discounted in the same moment. The counter-move is rarely to join the run — it is to take the falling player from the quiet position and come back for the hot position once the wave passes your slot.
The exception is a tier that is one pick from breaking. If the last player in a tier will not survive back to you, joining the run for that specific player is the value play. That is the difference survival odds make: they separate a real shortage from a mood.

FAQ
What is a Draft Panic Score?
It is a 0-100 measure of how far a draft board has drifted from ADP, weighted toward reaches of six or more picks ahead of a player's average draft position.
What counts as a reach?
A pick made six or more selections ahead of that player's ADP. The size of each reach, averaged across the board, drives the score.
Is a high panic score good or bad for me?
Good, if you stay disciplined. A panicking room pushes real value down the board, so the players falling to you are better than your slot suggests.
